11 – Let Him Change Your Mind | 21 Days of Prayer 2025
Be transformed by the renewing of your mind.
Romans 12:2
There’s a spot of my yard on one of the corners of my house where grass wouldn’t grow.
I couldn’t figure out why. It had plenty of sun, had no disease, and seemed no different than the patches of grass around it. But a noticeable strip of dirt left me dumbfounded.
Until I watched my dogs one day. They would race back and forth in the back yard, cutting the corner closest to the house, their paws beating the ground right where the strip of dirt was.
They had cut a path through the grass, and their repeated journeys back and forth kept the grass from growing back.
After I had installed the invisible dog fence, their path changed. They didn’t run quite as fast past that corner. They didn’t tread the exact same ground anymore.
Slowly but surely, the grass grew back.
Our minds are the same. The more we tread a path in our thinking, the more we entrench a habit with our thoughts, the deeper a “groove” is cut into our neural pathways.
But neural pathways can be rewritten. Old habits can be healed. Learned behaviors can be changed.
The Apostle Paul knew that when he was encouraging the believers in Rome to allow God to work in their lives and change them to stand out from the way of life of the world around them.
Paul knew that prayer rewires your mind with God’s truth.
Do This: Speak out one anxious thought you’ve had today, then pray out loud a truth from Scripture to replace it. (need some examples? Do a Google search for “Bible truth to heal anxious thoughts”)
Closing Prayer: Holy Spirit, renew my mind with Your truth.
