3 – He Knows What You Need | 21 Days of Prayer 2025

Your Father knows what you need before you ask Him.
Matthew 6:8

I’ve always wanted to become a “regular” at a restaurant so that I can experience what I’ve only seen in movies: where your usual spot is saved for you, and by the time you sit down your favorite server is walking over with your favorite food and drink.

We all have a desire to be known to that level, where someone else can anticipate our needs and desires before we speak it, and where we feel cared for simply because they notice us that closely.

Jesus’ followers wanted to know how to pray like Jesus, because it seemed like Jesus had a secret way to pray that convinced God to respond differently.

But Jesus cuts straight through the question because he knows what we want more that to be able to convince God to move. We want to know that God KNOWS us and cares for us deep enough to answer our prayers and draw near to us.

Martin Luther said, “Prayer is not overcoming God's reluctance; it is laying hold of His highest willingness.”

Prayer isn’t about convincing God (as if he doesn’t want to show you care). Prayer is about drawing near to God and realizing that he already knows and loves you.

Do This: Pause right now and simply sit in silence before God for 3 minutes, knowing He knows you completely.

Closing Prayer: Father, You know me and love me. I rest in Your care.
