10 – Be Still and Know | 21 Days of Prayer 2025
Be still, and know that I am God.
Psalm 46:10
In elementary school, I had a calculator that was powered by a solar cell along the top. At that young age, I was amazed by this technology and would test it often to try and understand it better.
I would hold my thumb over the solar cells, blocking out the sunlight, causing the calculator to slowly lose power, going blank.
I would cup my hand over it, shading it from the sun, watching as the calculator struggled to power the display with such little light.
I would hold it still in direct sunlight, allowing the rays to bathe the solar cell, and marvel at the crisp display working at full capacity.
The Psalmist is telling us the same thing about our need for God’s presence in our lives. When we block out God’s voice, or shelter ourselves from his presence, our hearts grow dim.
But when we remain still, remain in his presence, our soul is restored by his power.
The truth is that transformation happens in stillness, not in hurry.
Do This: Set a timer for 5 minutes. Sit in silence, repeating in your heart: “You are God, and You are here.”
Closing Prayer: Father, I slow down to know You are God.
