13 – Worship Him Aloud | 21 Days of Prayer 2025

Enter His gates with thanksgiving and His courts with praise.
Psalm 100:4

My wife, Megan, and I are getting to the stage in our marriage where we have trouble hearing each other. I don’t *think* it’s because of hearing loss, but rather it’s because our house is full of noisy kids and noisy toys.

Or it’s because we have the bad habit of trying to have a conversation from across the house, rather than drawing near each other so that we can be heard.

Which is why, “I can’t hear you,” is a common phrase we both say.

And when I’m trying to communicate something to Megan, and she responds with “what?” or “I can’t hear you,” it doesn’t help me feel connected to her. It makes me feel disconnected or annoyed.

And when I’m looking at her intently to try and understand what she’s saying while holding a screaming baby, and I say the dreaded, “Huh?”... it makes her discouraged and frustrated.

But when the kids are asleep, or when we aren’t multitasking while trying to communicate, and I draw near to her and speak in a voice she can hear and understand, we immediately feel more connected.

Maybe that’s why God encourages us to speak and sing our praise out loud. Because he knows that thinking “I love you” is never the same as saying it out loud to the person we love.

Saying it out loud makes it more real somehow.

The same goes for how we connect with God and partner with his transformation work. Out loud worship opens your heart to transformation.

Do This: Right now, say out loud three specific things you’re thankful for, then spend 2 minutes praising God.

Closing Prayer: God, I praise You and thank You for Your goodness.
