Day 18: Timing and Waiting

But those who wait for the Lord shall renew their strength, they shall mount up with wings like eagles, they shall run and not be weary, they shall walk and not faint.
Isaiah 40:31

Waiting is hard. We live in a world of instant results, where delays often feel like obstacles. But Isaiah reminds us that those who wait on the Lord don’t just endure—they are renewed. Fasting is an act of waiting, a way of slowing down and creating space for God to move.

In the waiting, God strengthens us. He shifts our focus from our own exhaustion to His unlimited power. He takes our weariness and gives us endurance. He lifts us beyond our struggles and renews us with His presence.

If you feel drained or impatient today, remember: the renewal you seek doesn’t come from striving but from trusting. When you wait on the Lord, He carries you forward.

Reflection Questions:

  1. What areas of your life feel like a waiting season right now?
  2. How have you seen God strengthen you in times when you had to rely on Him?
  3. What would it look like for you to wait on God with trust rather than frustration?

Action Steps:

  • Pause and Surrender: Take a few moments today to sit in silence before God, releasing any impatience or frustration to Him.
  • Pray with Expectation: Instead of just waiting for an answer, ask God to renew your strength in the waiting.
  • Move in Faith: Is there a step of trust you need to take? Maybe it’s continuing in obedience even when you don’t see results yet. Take one small action that reflects your trust in God’s timing.

Prayer

Lord, teach me to wait on You. As I fast, renew my strength and help me trust Your timing. Help me not to grow weary, but to find my endurance and hope in You. Amen.
